As the last days of 2013 are winding down, it’s time to start planning the arrival of a New Year. Don’t let hosting your own New Year’s Eve celebration become stressful. We’re often a little weary and worn from all the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday festivities . . . food preparations, gifting, traveling, etc. Have no fear – I have several worry-free party ideas for ringing in your New Year, so get your noise makers and party hats out and get ready to celebrate the New Year with simplistic style!
Food & Drink Menu
As you begin to prepare your menu, don’t worry about elaborate meals and fancy entrees. Provide simple dishes that are easy and delicious for both you and your guests. Here are some great ideas.
Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Pigs in a Blanket
Flatbread Pizza Squares
Cheese Straws
Veggies and Hummus
Baked Brie
Once your food menu is complete, add some of these great New Year’s Eve Cocktails to your mix.
Décor
Liven up the night by creating a fun and welcoming space for you and your guests to ring in the New Year. Use flashy colors like silver and gold to reflect the light and create an exciting atmosphere. Also add accent pieces in colors such as black or midnight blue to round out your color palette for your party. Fill tables with decorations such as party hats, sparklers, noise makers, confetti and last but certainly not least… lots and lots of glitter.
Other Party Ideas
As everyone awaits the countdown to the midnight hour, setting out games for you and your guests is a great way to entertain. Classic board games such as Left Right Center, Mad Gab, Apples to Apples, Quelf or Battle of the Sexes are all great go-to games for the celebration.
Make sure to set out plenty of party hats, confetti poppers, and noise makers for your guests. As the final countdown beings, hand out glasses of champagne and celebrate the New Year!
Happy New Year!
