Do I need a rug pad?
We always recommend the use of a rug pad with our products. Rug pads are a great way to protect your floors from scratching or color transfer. They also provide extra slip resistant protection and cushioning under foot. Rug pads extend the life of your rug by preventing pile crush and traffic wear patterns. You can find additional information about rug pads
here.

I purchased the Dual Surface felted rug pad from Mohawk Home. Which side goes against my flooring?
Place latex side down for hard floors or felt side down for carpet floors to prevent slipping or tripping hazards.
-
What size rug pad do I need?
Rug pads should be smaller than your area rug by at least 2 inches on each side. This allows the edges of the rug to lay flat against the flooring, preventing a tripping hazard. Mohawk's Dual Surface area rug pad can be cut down to size as needed.

Can I use my rug outside?
We sell specific outdoor rugs that will maintain their color and shape outside. These are sold at an array of
retailers. We do not recommend using a regular indoor rug outside.
-
My rug has wrinkles. Is it defective?
No. Creasing in rugs is common and will happen when the rug has been rolled for shipment. Most creases will flatten out over several weeks.
-
My rug has latex on the back. Is it washable?
Yes, our latex back allows you to wash your rugs in a regular or commercial washing machine. Please see the care and cleaning guidelines on the tag of the rug or view them online
here.
-
What type of rug is best for high traffic areas in my home?
High-traffic areas include hallways and most frequently used living spaces. We have an array of rugs that work best in this environment. Woven and printed rugs perform exceptionally well in high-traffic areas. After heavy use, however, you may notice wear patterns or staining. Professional cleaning, the use of a rug pad and regular vacuuming will help to keep your rugs in good condition.
-
Do you have area rugs that are pet-friendly?
Yes. Printed and woven rugs perform well in homes with pets. We suggest avoiding rugs with a looped pile, as these are most easily snagged by pet nails. Indoor/outdoor area rugs are a great option for families with pets because they are stain and water resistant. Finally, rugs constructed of SmartStrand will permanently resist stains and spills for the life of the rug.
-
Can I use the recycled rubber doormats inside?
No. These are made from recycled rubber tires. The oils in the rubber can damage your indoor flooring. Recycled rubber doormats are for outdoor use only.

I have a problem with a Mohawk Home product that I purchased. How do I resolve it?
If you aren't completely satisfied with your Mohawk Home product, you can return the item to the retailer where you purchased it to exchange it or receive a refund (dependent on the retailer's return policy). Mohawk Home is the manufacturer and cannot accept returns directly from consumers unless you are outside of the retailer's return window and the rug is believed to have a defect that is covered by our limited manufacturing defect policy. If you believe your rug is defective and it cannot be returned to the store, please contact us

I purchased an area rug at my local retailer. It looked gray in the store, but now it looks brown. What happened?
Lighting can play a significant role in your rug's appearance. The lighting in your retailer's store is likely different than the bulbs in your home, so the color of the rug may not match exactly. Try moving the rug to another area, like a sunroom or area with windows, to observe any changes. Full-spectrum fluorescent bulbs and halogen bulbs produce light that most closely resembles natural sunlight.
