If 2013 taught us anything it’s that our technology landscape has changed the way we predict trends in the fashion and Home Decor segments. Home Decor used to trail fashion trends almost 2 years behind. Now with websites like Pinterest, Wanelo, and Facebook, brands know what consumers are reacting to and can act fast to bring things to market. We at Mohawk Home are no different and have had our ears to the ground all year. Here are our top 3 trends that will hit the retail shelves in 2014!
- Cobalt Blue
Feeling Blue has new meaning around here in the Mohawk Home design studio. Not only did Pantone name Cobalt blue as the 2014 Spring color of the year but our fashionista designers have been sporting it all year. Blue is easy to design around too. An off white couch with a goldenrod throw pillow and the perfect rug would create a posh atmosphere. Here is one of my favorite designs with this fabulous on trend blue.
2. Earth Conscious and Socially Conscious Brands
With the emergence of socially and environmentally conscious brands like TOMs, Patagonia, and even Tide (Loads of Hope). Consumers are craving that “feel good” emotional response when they make a purchase knowing they just helped another. I’m proud to work for a company that does that each and every day. Not only do we have a strong commitment to charities like Habitat for Humanity but we are extremely eco friendly as well. You can read more about our Recycling , Green Flooring, preserving our natural resources, and our SmartStrand Fibers here.
3. Greys
We’ll be announcing a new collection in January called Euphoria by Karastan. It’s all kinds of awesome. The inspiration behind it came straight from fashion. I love reading the Nordstroms B.P. Fashion Blog. This post on Europe’s Fashion week and the trends were so inspiring and definitely influenced our rug designs for 2014. I can’t lie I also have an obsession with gun metal nail polish.
I am really looking forward to showing you what’s in store for 2014! What trends are you seeing emerge for 2014? Anything you just Love? Loathe? Comment so we can hear what you want to see from us in 2014.
I hope you have a wonderful New Years and a prosperous 2014!
