OK, I have a confession to make.
I don’t really like Halloween.
There. I said it. I don’t. The skeletons and skulls, bats, tombstones, cobwebs and spiders…they all creep me out. I just can’t get behind it.
But what I do love about Halloween are the treats! Here are some great, easy-to-make, not-so-scary ideas for Halloween treats!
My daughter (age 7) helped me make these breadstick “bones” with tomato dipping sauce. Just take pizza dough – make your own or buy it ready-made at the store – roll it out and cut it into narrow strips. Then cut slits in each end of the strip and roll it up to create the ends of the “bones.”
You can make them savory or sweet. We opted for savory: we brushed them with melted butter and sprinkled parmesan cheese on them. For a sweet version, brush with butter and then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes, until golden brown. Dip in your favorite marinara or pizza sauce for the savory sticks; for the sweet version, use vanilla icing or chocolate sauce. Easy and yummy!
These “screaming” doughnuts from eighteen25 make me smile. To make them, all you need is candy eyeballs, plastic fangs, and a box of doughnuts. What a fun and easy-to-assemble treat for your little goblins.
How cute are these mini-doughnut spiders from It’s Always Autumn? (Yes, I just said spiders are cute. Maybe I’m coming around…) They are easy to make, so it’s a perfect treat to make with kids. I think I could get behind these not-so-scary spiders!
I love these witch hat treats from Ginger Snap Crafts! All you need are chocolate-striped cookies, some frosting, and chocolate kisses. So adorable and easy to make.
With all these cute treats, maybe I can get behind Halloween after all!
What about you? Do you go all-out for Halloween?
We live in the country, but do have some young families close by. I make treat bags and deliver to their homes instead of vice versa. It’s fun for all of us 🙂
That is so sweet! What a great idea! That would make me like Halloween better, for sure!
