When we’re busy, home projects tend to take a back seat to other, more pressing obligations. What if you could quickly complete some fixer upper projects around your home that would make a big difference? Here are five quick fixer-upper projects with big impact.
(1) Redo an old chair
It’s easy to refurbish dining chairs to update them. A coat of paint and new fabric on the seat do wonders for an old chair!
You just unscrew the seat from the chair and remove the old fabric. If the seat needs new foam, replace the foam and wrap it in batting. Then add the new fabric and staple it to the bottom of the seat cushion. Screw the seat back onto the chair and you’re done. My full tutorial can be found HERE.
(2) Change a knob (or several!) on your doors
An easy and quick project that can totally change the look of your home is replacing the door knobs.
This tutorial tells you everything you need to know about knobs – including types and installation tips! We did this in our home when we moved in a year ago – changing out dated brass knobs for oil-rubbed bronze new ones – and it makes such a huge difference!
(3) Change a lightbulb
I gave our dated builder-grade light fixtures a vintage update with new lightbulbs.
I removed the glass covers on the lights and added vintage-style Edison bulbs. You can find these Edison bulbs at home improvement stores and online.
(4) Add a rug
A new rug changes the feel of a room. It instantly makes the room warm, cozy, and finished.
A rug is like the base of a room. It anchors the space.
(5) Paint something
One of my favorite quick fixer upper projects is painting. Painting a whole room, one wall, or even a kitchen backsplash can freshen up a room and give it a new look.
