As excitement grows for next week’s grand opening of Zhush Boutique, located inside our New York City showroom, we jumped at the opportunity to sit down and chat with one of our designers, Robyn Kaechele (who recently became Mrs. Robyn Kendrick. Congrats!). Robyn collaborated with the rest of our fabulous Mohawk Home design team to create the new Zhush collection. We couldn’t wait to find out more and share it with you!
Q & A with Zhush Collection Designer Robyn Kendrick:
First, tell us a little about the Zhush collection and what customers can expect to find?
“The Zhush collection is all about sophisticated fun. All of the designs have those boutique bright fun colors with sophisticated and refined patterns that everyone loves. These rugs are definitely going to add a little something extra special to any room they are in!”
Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind this collection?
“We really looked to a lot of high-end designers for our pattern and color inspiration, but we made sure to put our own livable spin on them. The high-end patterns and funky fun colors complement each other so well and make the rugs really unique.”
What are some of your favorite elements of this collection?
“I’m in love with all of the colors and the color combinations we are able to create! There really is something for everyone, and some are definitely going to be coming home with me.”
What did you enjoy most about designing these pieces?
“Whenever we get a new palette to play with, it’s always super exciting! It’s like getting a brand new box of crayons when you’re five years old- the possibilities seem endless! So having all of the new colors inspired everyone. Then, as an added bonus, we came up with a brand new texture, or the “Zhush”, which added a bit of pizazz on top of the new colors!”
How is Zhush different from the other Mohawk Home collections you’ve designed in the past?
“I think Zhush really has something for everyone. It appeals to me as a twenty something, but I can also see my mom or my grandmother loving the designs and colors. From a technical side, the texture is completely brand new and it’s something that has never been done in the industry before. However, most importantly, I think Zhush has the most heart behind it. We all spent a lot of time figuring out the perfect color combinations and creating a texture that is organic and refined. This collection was a true group effort and is really fun and beautiful!”
