Everyday Winter Mantel Ideas

Contributing Blogger

With the holidays behind us, trees removed and ornaments packed away, the house can start to look empty and sad. But even though December has passed, you can still create a beautiful mantel vignette as a nod to winter, without a holiday feel.

Here are a few ideas to decorate your mantel after the holidays, through the coldest part of the year before Spring brings tulips and new buds.

Use Rustic Elements
The absence of fresh greenery outside is no reason to forego nature in your home. Use natural elements specific to winter, like logs, twigs and pinecones.

Keep the Candles

They’re not just right for the holidays; they’re beautiful year-round. Mix candles and freshen up the greenery you used in December to take your mantel right through the winter.

Play up the metallics

A simple starburst mirror and some metallic candle stands are perfectly festive for the cold winter months. The sparkle keeps things fresh and fun until the days get a little longer.

There’s no need to start from scratch when bringing your holiday mantel into the new year. Play with candles, metallics and natural elements left over from December to keep your mantel fresh and seasonally decorated.
