With the weather getting warmer, and spring cleaning done (right?), it’s time to freshen up our home decor! Whether you want to just make things lighter and brighter, or give a room a new look, here are some easy ways to freshen up your home.
Paint
Paint is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to refresh the look of a room. Paint a whole room a bright, light color, or just do an accent wall.
Before, my dining room was dark and dated:
With just a can of paint, it went from dark to light and airy:

Choose a paint color that’s light and works with the pieces already in the room. You can choose an inspiration piece – like a pillow or piece of art – and grab a fresh color from that. I used the rug as the inspiration for the paint color above.
Pillows
And speaking of pillows, adding new or different pillows is a great way to freshen up a space.
I love changing out the pillows in a room. It’s an inexpensive change that can give your room a whole new look.
Bed Linens
Once the weather turns warm, I put away the heavy duvet on our bed and replace it with a cotton quilt.
The quilt is lighter and has a different texture, and it gives the bed a fresh look.
Accessories
I know I drive my family crazy by rearranging accessories in our home, but I like changing things up in each room!
Adding some new accessories, either by shopping your home or by some retail therapy, can really breathe new life into a space.
Switch around the rugs in your home to give a room a new look. Or, buy a new rug in a lighter fabric or color to refresh a space.
