Halloween is behind us and now it’s time to focus on Thanksgiving. We all want to set a beautiful table for our family and friends at Thanksgiving, but without spending a lot of money on the centerpiece or table decor.
Good news! You don’t need to hire or be a florist or spend a ton of money on centerpieces! Here are some easy and fun DIY fall centerpieces and table decor.
1. Natural Place Cards
DIY place cards for your guests at Thanksgiving dinner. For example, my daughter and I collected pinecones when we were raking leaves. I thought they’d make great place card holders.
Before you put the pinecones on your table, you want to make sure there aren’t any, well, critters living in them. To do that, line a baking sheet with heavy duty foil, put them on the sheet in a single layer, and then bake them in your oven at 200 degrees for about half an hour.
I used shipping tags (you can get these at any office supply store) and a black paint pen to make the place cards. Once the pinecones have cooled, just wrap the wire of the shipping tag around it (be careful not to break pieces off the pinecone).
Or, use mini-pumpkins for place cards.
Just paint your guest’s initials or name on the pumpkin with a black paint pen.
2. Easy Centerpieces
Make pretty and easy centerpieces from materials you can find at your grocery store. For example, I filled hurricane vases with coffee beans and a vanilla candle. They smelled so good! And the whole thing cost less than $10!
Or use mini-pumpkins and candles in a tray, like this centerpiece from Worthing Court Blog:
Even a branch from your yard can become a festive fall centerpiece:
Or fill vintage cups with succulents, like Atta Girl Says did on her porch table:
