Spring Treats

Contributing Blogger

Spring is here and while I’ve already overdosed on Easter candy, all I can think about is indulging in colorful treats while relaxing outdoors with my family. Spring is also a popular time for baby showers and birthday parties, so take note – here are some of my favorite spring treats that are sure to be a hit! Click the links for full tutorials.

Everything’s Coming Up Roses
Delight your party guests or treat your family to these amazingly beautiful pink rose truffles, which are surprisingly simple to make. And if the fondant roses scare you, you can always purchase ready-made toppers, but where’s the fun in that? Open your kitchen window and let the fresh air in, because you too can create these fun and tasty treats.

DIY Chocolate Covered Oreo Flowers
Shock the socks off your kids with this one! An edible flower with an Oreo cookie inside? I think that would shock the socks off anyone, now that I think about it. And I was surprised to learn just how these are made – with a simple and affordable flower mold! These are perfect for a spring gathering or baby shower.

Donut Hole Hedgehog Treats
These fun little creatures would be an amazing addition to a spring party at your child’s school or birthday party in the backyard. But your options are limitless. With some additional creativity (and supplies) you could also create blue birds (use blue sprinkles and an orange beak), bears or even cats and dogs.

Adorable Animal Pretzel Treats
I can’t get over how adorable and delicious these fun spring critters look. With some pretzels, candy coating and a few accents, you too can create these spring treats for a birthday party (this is a perfect treat for preschoolers), themed baby shower or just as a spring activity in the kitchen.

Healthy Veggie Flower Treat
Spring treats don’t have to be in the form of sugar. You can create fun spring items from fruit and vegetables. A flower, butterfly or bird… you can simply place your healthier treats in the shape of these items or use cookie cutters for larger pieces to get really creative. Another way to surprise your child with some healthy spring treats is to pack a bento-style lunch for those last few weeks of school with fruits, veggies and sandwiches in fun shapes.
