I love hosting dinner parties during the cold winter months. There’s something about this time of year – even in Southern California – that makes a cozy dinner party feel that much more special. The Holidays are nice, but I always feel obligated to decorate and prepare the space and the mood with a Holiday theme. But with seasons, you can play around with themes and have more flexibility with your décor.
One table setting I created this year is quickly becoming my favorite for the winter months. It was simple to do (especially since right after the Holidays, all the supplies are on super sale) and it creates a beautiful presentation for your guests.
How to create your pinecone winterscape table setting
Step 1.
Set your table with a neutral or metallic placemats, silverware and chargers.
Step 2.
Use plain colored plates (I like to use white) to keep with the theme and allow the place settings to stand out.
Step 3.
Fold your napkins in thirds to create a rectangle. Cut an 18-inch piece of Burlap ribbon and carefully tie a knot at the back of the napkins.
Step 4.
Place a pinecone on top of the Burlap.
Step 5.
Stencil, die cut or purchase cardstock paper pieces in white or off-white and print, stamp or type “I wish…” at the top. You can use this to create a memorable conversation starter at your dinner party – just make sure you place a pen at every place setting.
The pinecones we used were glitter-tipped pinecones. You can purchase glitter-tipped pinecones, make them yourself or use plain pinecones for a more modern or simple look.
For your centerpiece, place candles and pinecones to match and coordinate with your winter theme.
