It’s been a long day. Traffic was awful, work was crazy, and all you want to do is kick off your shoes and relax. What if you decorated your bedroom or bathroom to feel like a spa? You know, in colors and textures that make you instantly feel at ease? Here are some suggestions for serene bed and bath colors for a spa feel. (I can already feel your blood pressure lowering!)
Go Natural
When thinking about creating a spa-like feel in your bedroom or bathroom, take cues from nature. Watery blues, light greens, and bright whites all evoke feelings of serenity and relaxation.
The wall color in the above bedroom is “Ice Cube” by Sherwin Williams. I love how the creamy whites and pastel blues soften the space and make it feel light and airy, even with the dark furniture in the room.
My favorite soft blue-gray is “Moonshine” by Benjamin Moore, but I also love “Watery” and “Sea Salt,” both by Sherwin Williams. The colors even sound relaxing.
For a light gray-green, this bathroom is painted in “Silver Sage” by Restoration Hardware.
Mix Textures
When you step into a spa, you see hard tile and soft towels.
You see wood and stone.
The contrasts in materials keep the spa (or room) from feeling stark or cold. The towels soften the tile; the wood warms up the cold stone.
It’s about balance. Kind of like how you want to feel after being in your spa-like retreat.
