Done in a Day (or Less!): Easy DIY Watercolor Shamrock

Heidi Milton

While we long for that spring weather, it’s time to refresh our home decor with some fun touches to welcome warmer days.  If you’re like me and the spring schedule ramps up long before the temperatures rise and buds pop out,  you need quick and easy projects to reset your home.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite projects that injects the perfect touch of early spring — my DIY watercolor shamrock.

The supplies for this project are simple… watercolor paper or a piece of cardstock (I use this *affiliate link), a fine tipped watercolor brush, and a set of watercolors (any will work!).  If you’ve ever looked closely at a shamrock (or in this case, a four leaf clover!), you’ve probably noticed the leaves have a bit of a heart shape. How lucky!

step 1

Just paint a heart in your favorite shade of green and fill it in.

step 2

Add another so the sides are just touching and the point of the hearts are almost touching.

step 3

Add a third on the other side — same thing: sides touching, points of the heart almost touching.

step 4

Add the fourth upside down.

step 5

Then add a little stem.  I suppose technically this is a four-leaf clover!

Pop it into a small frame and you’ve got a little treasure for St. Patrick’s Day! These would make sweet little gifts for your favorite Irish folks and are such a fun little decor accent.
