Displaying Collections

Heidi Milton

Are you a collector?  Collections are a wonderful way to put your unique signature on your home’s decor.  But displaying your treasures can be tricky.  Scattering them about can dilute their impact, so the rule of thumb is to keep them together for maximum effect.  It’s also easier to appreciate and enjoy your collection when it’s all in one place.  Today I’m sharing a few fresh ideas for displaying your collections in your home.

Make your display a rainbow.  We only have to look to Mother Nature for the most visually pleasing display of color…

Devote an entire piece of furniture for the display.  If you have the luxury of space for a separate shelving unit to showcase your treasures and they can fill it up, go for it!

Mount them on the wall.  This method of display won’t clutter a surface or take up valuable floor space.   And now your fascinating collection doubles as wall decor.

Group your collection of small items in an unusual container.  Those “smalls” can be particularly challenging, so gather them on a pretty tray or in a basket, where they can still be seen and enjoyed en mass.
